Faith, British Columbia
Gold
The property is located approximately 38 km southwest of Cranbrook, in the headwaters of Kamma Creek, a tributary of the Goat River. The property consists of approximately 2,062 ha (5,095 acres), underlain by strata correlated to the Creston and Aldridge Formations of the Late Proterozoic Purcell Supergroup. A series of northeast trending faults cross-cut the property, mapped as both thrust and normal faults, resulting in a series of northeast-southwest oriented fault slices. Previous work in the area now comprising the Faith identified a gold in soil anomaly sub-parallel to the faulted contact between the Aldridge Formation and overlying Creston Formation.
A previously reported soil grid located in a saddle in the centre of the property documented relatively abundant highly anomalous gold values to 1,461 ppb. In addition, a number of short contour soil lines documented moderately anomalous gold to 85 ppb. The soil program was followed by diamond drilling.
A total of 7 diamond drill holes were drilled in 1994, for a total of 584.6 m. Holes BR93-1 to 6 were drilled approximately 900 m northwest of the fault, while hole BR93-7 was drilled to test strata correlated to the Aldridge Formation in the footwall of the fault. The location and orientation of hole 7 indicates the hole was collared in the footwall of, and drilled away from, the fault. Therefore, if the fault is the controlling structure for anomalous gold documented in soils, it remains untested by drilling.
In 2006, a total of 369 soil samples were taken along both roads and contours on the ridge underlying the previously sampled soil grid. The resulting analyses document abundant anomalous gold values (greater than 1 ppb), with a visual average between 5 and 10 ppb. Numerous values were returned between 20 and 85 ppb. Maximum values for the 2006 soil program are as follows:
| Molybdenum |
less than |
4.1 ppm |
| Copper |
less than |
72 ppm |
| Lead |
less than |
104.3 ppm |
| Zinc |
less than |
112 ppm |
| Gold |
less than |
0.4 ppm |
| Silver |
less than |
87.5 ppb |
| Tungsten |
less than |
2.3 ppm |
| Manganese |
less than |
13,946 ppm |
The composite results from 1994 and 2006 are interpreted to indicate the presence of anomalous gold in the hanging wall of the Old Baldy Fault, hosted by sediments correlated to the middle Aldridge Formation to the Creston Formation. The Old Baldy Fault has been interpreted to be an important structural control to gold mineralization (both placer and lode) in the Moyie River valley immediately to the north.
